Linoprinting and the reduction technique

We are delighted to welcome back to Hunsdon House the very talented Leicester artist and educator Jo Shearer. The method that we will focus on this time is the reduction method, where you develop your printed image in a number of stages, cutting away more of the lino each time to build up different colour layers.

All materials and tools are provided to enable you to develop your own prints along with some inspiring resources, just bring your own lunch.

The workshop is designed for those with some basic grounding in linoprinting, but beginners are more than welcome and will be well supported in the friendly small group setting.

Zine making

Explore mark-making and origami in this workshop where you’ll learn how to combine two traditional techniques to create a paper zine. With step-by-step guidance, you’ll use found tools, painting, drawing and collage to create beauty, depth and texture and create your very own zine.

The day will start with simple mark-making exercises with found materials to warm up and these will then be extended, adapted and enhanced to create a simple one-page zine. Once complete, we’ll work on more complex folding techniques from a variety of available templates to create zines that can easily be adapted to create narrative storylines or become distinctive artist books.

Come with an idea you wish to pursue or use some of our prompt cards and templates to create something unexpected.
